Brookfield Budget Blast
#5 - Capital Improvement Plan for 2025-2026
2025-2026 Capital Requests
A driver of the overall town budget is its investment in facilities and grounds. At its last meeting the Board of Education received a presentation from Director of Business and Operations, Kasey Diotte, with the administration’s recommendation for next year’s 1 year prioritize capital projects. The Board will be considering approval of these projects at its regular meeting next week, November 20th. Click to view the 25-26 Capital Improvement Plan. Included in this presentation are dozens of clickable links in order for the public to get a more detailed understanding of needed repairs and current conditions.

All facility improvement estimates are based on the current building conditions study conducted by Marx|Okubo in 2023. This study revealed that both Brookfield High School and Whisconier Middle School are in generally good condition and that with strategic capital investments over 10 years, they will serve the Brookfield School students and community for decades to come.

Some things to note in this year’s capital plan:
  • Nearly 77% of year 2 investments go towards critical infrastructure including public water supply for WMS, HVAC upgrades and roof replacement for both the middle and high schools.
  • Roof sections at both BHS and WMS will be replaced in sections over the next 10 years to minimize the impact to tax payers.
  • The Athletic, Technology & Equipment/Vehicle requests are not included in the Marx|Okubo report but are needs identified through discussions with building administration, our IT Director, and our Facility Supervisor and maintenance team.
